Senior Payroller

My client is seeking a Senior Payroller to deliver an accurate and efficient payroll service. This role involves handling pay queries, job costing, holiday and sickness records, and producing payroll reports. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with HMRC standards and maintain high standards of record-keeping.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Deliver an accurate and efficient payroll service, including handling pay queries, job costing, holiday and sickness records, and producing payroll reports.
  • Accurately allocate employee hours to specific jobs or projects, ensuring labour costs are correctly recorded for internal reporting and client billing.
  • Process end-to-end weekly payroll for hourly-paid employees.
  • Support HMRC compliance via Sage Payroll, including managing tax code changes and assisting with Full Payment Submissions (FPS) and Employer Payment Submissions (EPS).
  • Reconcile statutory and company sick pay to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.
  • Manage the Sage Payslip Portal for employees and departments, ensuring smooth access and providing ongoing support.
  • Maintain high standards of record-keeping across all payroll systems, including the Time and Attendance system, Sage 200, and Sage Payroll.
  • Enter and maintain accurate information for new starters across all relevant systems, ensuring prompt and correct updates.
  • Monitor and manage pay rates (ensuring compliance with National Minimum Wage), National Insurance contributions, and attendance records for apprentices.
  • Ensure all confidential payroll data and spreadsheets are kept secure and up to date, in accordance with data protection legislation and internal policies.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in payroll administration.
  • Proficiency in Sage Payroll and other relevant payroll systems.
  • Strong understanding of HMRC compliance requirements.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
