Shifts: 7am-7pm Monday Friday (Days) / 7pm-7am Monday-Friday (nights)
 

The Company:

We’re working with a well-established engineering client known for offering world-class ship repair, conversion, and fabrication services across the marine and renewable energy sectors. With one of the largest commercial dry-docks on the East Coast and access to deep water berths, this facility is built to handle everything from simple repairs to complex fabrication projects.

The site includes a modern fabrication setup with advanced equipment such as panel lines, rolling systems, and both plasma and gas burning machines. Extensive storage and load-out capacity, along with fully equipped workshops, means the business is capable of managing a wide variety of projects efficiently and effectively.

Job Description:

We are currently seeking an experienced Welder to join the fabrication team in Hebburn. As a Welder, you’ll be working with mild steel across various thicknesses, handling welds from 3-50mm in both butt and fillet forms. This role requires an individual with a keen eye for quality and the ability to weld across all angles.

You will be joining a dedicated team working on a range of projects requiring the use of both standard and flux core wire. Shifts are flexible across days, afternoons, and nights, with premium rates available for unsociable hours.

This MIG Welder position is suited for someone looking to utilise their skills in a busy but rewarding workshop setting, with opportunities to increase your hourly rate based on shift patterns and performance.

Skills & Experience:

  • 136, 135/138 coding (in date)
  • Must be able to weld flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead.
  • Proven experience as a Coded Welder working with mild steel
  • Ability to weld across multiple positions and angles
  • Familiar with welding wire sizes: 1.35 & 1.38mm (standard and flux core)
  • The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings is desirable
  • Reliable, punctual and a team player
  • Comfortable working shifts (including nights)
  • Experience with butt and fillet welds required
  • Must be time-served or able to demonstrate equivalent practical experience
