We are currently working with a welcoming school in Mirfield who are seeking a Cognition & Learning Teaching Assistant to support their primary-age pupils, starting immediately.
About the role as Cognition & Learning Teaching Assistant: The school supports pupils with a variety of needs, including:
- ASC (verbal and non-verbal)
- Learning difficulties
- Complex needs
We are looking for applicants with a strong understanding of supporting students with special educational needs (SEN), particularly those with cognition and learning challenges. You should be enthusiastic about helping pupils achieve their potential and be committed to raising attainment across the school.
Responsibilities of a Cognition & Learning Teaching Assistant include:
- Supporting pupils with cognition and learning needs in classroom and small group settings
- Implementing personalised learning plans under the guidance of teachers and SEN coordinators
- Helping to develop studentsā academic, social, and emotional skills
- Building positive relationships with pupils and promoting engagement in learning
- Assisting with interventions and workshops to enhance pupilsā learning outcomes
Experience & skills:
- Experience supporting children with SEN, cognition and learning difficulties is highly desirable
- Knowledge of teaching strategies for pupils with ASC and complex learning needs
- Ability to work proactively, take initiative, and adapt to the needs of individual students
- Previous experience in educational workshops, Theatre in Education (TIE), or enrichment activities is a bonus
