SEN Teaching Assistant – Full-Time, Long-Term
Location: Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire

Supply Desk is delighted to be working with a highly regarded SEN school in Watford, known for its nurturing environment and commitment to inclusive education. We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis starting as soon as possible.

This is a rewarding opportunity to support students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, autism, and other complex learning challenges. If you’re passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and thrive, we’d love to hear from you.

About the Role:
You’ll work closely with teachers and SEND professionals to support pupils across Key Stages 2–4 in a structured, therapeutic setting. Your role will be instrumental in helping students build confidence, develop life skills, and achieve their academic and personal goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver 1:1 and small-group support tailored to individual learning needs
  • Assist with emotional regulation and behaviour management
  • Adapt learning materials to suit diverse abilities and interests
  • Support the implementation of EHCPs and behaviour support strategies
  • Build positive relationships with students and staff
  • Help maintain a calm, inclusive classroom environment
  • Monitor and report on pupil progress and wellbeing

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN/SEMH
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach
  • Confidence in managing challenging behaviour
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Understanding of trauma-informed and inclusive practices
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
