MERITUS are working with a leading Defence consultancy looking for a Network Architect to join a highly secure, fast-paced environment supporting critical national infrastructure projects.

This is a varied role where you'll be involved from initial design right through to implementation and support. You'll take ownership of both high-level and low-level designs, work with technologies from leading vendors, and provide third-line support when required. Alongside the technical delivery, you'll also guide and support colleagues, helping to set the direction for project work.

If you're confident in designing and building secure network systems and enjoy working in a team where innovation and problem-solving are part of the day-to-day, this could be the perfect next step in your career. DV (Developed Vetting) security clearance is essential for this role - either already held or eligible to be obtained.

The role is based on client site in Hemel Hempstead.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Create and deliver detailed high and low-level network designs for complex IP environments.
  • Build and implement solutions using technologies such as Cisco.
  • Act as a point of escalation for third-line support on challenging issues.
  • Work directly with customers to understand needs and translate them into workable solutions.
  • Provide guidance and technical direction to colleagues within project teams.
  • Ensure solutions are properly documented and can be effectively supported once deployed.

Skills Required:

  • Strong track record of designing and supporting secure, resilient IP networks.
  • Experience producing clear high and low-level design documentation.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools such as SNMP, Syslog or similar.
  • Solid understanding of network security, including firewalls, IDS and IPS.
  • Knowledge of core routing protocols such as OSPF, BGP, IS-IS, LDP or RSVP.
  • Confident communicator, able to explain technical detail to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Benefits:

  • Salary up to 72,000
  • Clearance bonus of 5,000 to be paid upon obtaining DV clearance
  • Up to 10% annual bonus
  • Enhanced pension scheme (5% employee, 10% employer)
  • Private medical insurance
  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays
  • flexible working hours
