About the Role:

An inclusive and welcoming primary school in Hemel Hempstead is seeking a dedicated and nurturing 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a child in Key Stage 1 with speech and language needs. This full-time position is set to start in September 2025, with the potential to transition into a permanent role for the right candidate.

The successful applicant will work closely with the class teacher and external professionals to provide tailored support to help the pupil access the curriculum, build confidence, and make consistent progress both academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualised, 1:1 support for a pupil with identified speech and language needs
  • Deliver interventions and activities aligned with speech and language therapy guidance
  • Monitor and record progress, adapting support as required
  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher and SENDCo to implement and review the child’s EHCP targets
  • Support the pupil in class and during unstructured times such as playtime or lunchtime
  • Promote a positive, inclusive learning environment

Candidate Requirements:

  • Proven experience supporting children in a primary school or educational setting

  • Patient, compassionate and able to build positive relationships
  • Confident working as part of a team and using own initiative
  • A commitment to supporting the educational and emotional development of all children
  • A relevant qualification (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent) is desirable
