TeacherActive is proud to be working with local authorities and virtual schools to provide 1:1 tuition and mentoring for students with SEND who are not currently in formal education. We are looking for compassionate, experienced, and dedicated educators to support learners in their homes or community settings such as libraries.

About the Role:
This role offers a unique opportunity to work with vulnerable students who require personalised support outside of mainstream education. Tuition is guided by outcomes set in the student’s Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), not the national curriculum. You’ll have the flexibility to plan and deliver tailored sessions that rebuild confidence, encourage re-engagement with learning, and support emotional wellbeing.

Your Role as a Tutor / Mentor:

  • Deliver 1:1 support in core subjects (English, Maths, Science), tailored to EHCP outcomes

  • Plan engaging, personalised lessons within your 15-hour weekly allocation

  • Provide academic and pastoral mentoring for learners with a range of SEND including autism, ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties

  • Build trusting relationships to help learners thrive and make progress outside traditional classroom settings

What We’re Looking For:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or equivalent) – Essential

  • Strong understanding of SEND and strategies for supporting disengaged learners

  • Experience working 1:1 or with students outside of mainstream settings is highly desirable

  • Patience, resilience, and a compassionate approach

In Return, You Will Receive:

  • Competitive hourly pay of £25–£30

  • Flexible working to fit around your schedule

  • A highly rewarding role making a real difference

  • Ongoing support from our experienced SEND team

  • Access to CPD and training opportunities

  • PAYE payment – no hidden admin fees

  • TeacherActive Referral Scheme – Earn up to £100 when you refer a friend (T&Cs apply)
