Trainee Payroll Administrator

The RoleOur client, a small but growing accountancy firm based in Henfield, West Sussex, is seeking a Payroll and Administration Trainee to join their friendly, supportive team. The company provides accounts, payroll, tax, and VAT services to small and medium-sized businesses across the UK. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to begin a career in payroll and accountancy, with full training and development provided.

  • Assist with payroll processing for around 250 client companies
  • Provide administrative support to the tax department
  • Submit documents to HMRC, Companies House, and other authorities
  • Communicate with clients via phone, email, and face-to-face
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure confidentiality
  • Learn payroll and tax procedures under close guidance
  • Participate in internal meetings and training sessions
  • Organise and prioritise tasks to meet deadlines
  • Gain experience with accountancy software and client systems

RequirementsApplicants should be committed, proactive, and eager to learn. Strong interpersonal skills, discretion, and computer literacy are essential. Previous experience or relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential. The client is happy to train the right person who demonstrates a strong interest in the role.This role could suit someone who has worked as an office assistant, payroll clerk trainee, or finance admin assistant.
