Garden Centre Plant Expert

Location: Henley-On-Thames

Salary: Negotiable (Dependent on Experience)

Hours: Full-Time, 40 hours per week

Following a period of exciting growth, they're seeking a passionate and hardworking individual to nurture and maintain their extensive collection of plants in their busy nursery. Working alongside an experienced team, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the health and vibrancy of thousands of plants.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Sharing your plant expertise by providing knowledgeable advice to our valued customers on plants, shrubs, and trees, and all things relating to gardening!
  • Inspiring creativity and delighting customers by assisting with and creating stunning hanging baskets.
  • Nurturing new life by expertly potting young plants.
  • Ensuring efficient stock management through moving and organising plants.
  • Accurately fulfilling customer orders by picking the required stock.
  • Efficiently managing incoming plant deliveries.
  • Contributing to the smooth running of the nursery by processing potting requirements.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised nursery environment through general housekeeping tasks.
  • Championing plant health through consistent watering, weeding, and deadheading.
  • Cultivating beauty by planting, watering, and fertilizing a diverse range of flowers, shrubs, and trees.
  • Protecting the plants by monitoring for and controlling pests and diseases.
  • Ensuring optimal plant hydration by installing and maintaining irrigation systems.

Skills/Experience Required:

  • Proven experience in a similar horticultural role or a strong knowledge of gardening principles.
  • A proactive and self-motivated individual who takes initiative.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with colleagues and customers.
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to manage changing priorities and varying workloads.
