Currently supporting my service sector client based in Herefordshire, with the recruitment of an Interim Group Financial Accountant who will play a key role in managing and reporting on the financial performance of a group of companies or business units within a larger corporate structure. Here's a breakdown of what they typically do for the next 6-9 months.
Core Responsibilities
Group Consolidation
- Prepare consolidated financial statements for the entire group, combining results from multiple subsidiaries or entities.
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards (e.g., IFRS or UK GAAP).
Financial Reporting
- Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Support statutory reporting and liaise with auditors during year-end processes.
Intercompany Accounting
- Manage transactions between group entities, ensuring they are correctly recorded and reconciled.
Technical Accounting Support
- Provide guidance on complex accounting issues such as acquisitions, disposals, leases, and impairments.
- Interpret and apply changes in accounting standards.
Budgeting and Forecasting Support
- Collaborate with FP&A teams to ensure consistency between actuals and forecasts.
- Provide insights into variances and trends.
Compliance and Controls
- Ensure financial controls are in place and adhered to across the group.
- Support internal audits and risk management initiatives.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with finance teams across subsidiaries, senior management, and external advisors.
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong technical accounting knowledge.
- Proficiency in financial systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Hyperion).
- Qualified accountant (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
- Excellent analytical and communication skills.
