Main Job Purpose

  • To enable the delivery by providing a comprehensive, high quality financial and business service to the organisation. This role is supported by a Finance Officer.
  • Manage the financial affairs of the business and its commercial subsidiary
  • Manage Financial risk, security and compliance
  • Manage and develop key financial systems, based on XLedger
  • Contribute to the strategic leadership of the business as a member of the Senior Management Team
  • Undertake Payroll, VAT, taxation, pensions and PAYE, with support of the administrator
  • Support and give financial advice to the projects and programmes, including business development support as we continue our growth strategy

Qualifications

Degree in Finance or accounting (or equivalent) - will consider QBE

Essential Experience & Knowledge

  • Knowledge and experience of charity accounting beneficial
  • Strong experience of one or more of the following: working in a charity, project management, contract management, risk and compliance management)
  • Thorough understanding of financial management, complex budgets and the basic requirements of statutory reporting
  • Experience in drawing up an annual budget for an organisation
  • Experience of preparing accounts to trial balance
  • Experience of using a cloud-based ERP finance software
  • Experience of organisational planning
  • Experience in tendering for and negotiating contracts
  • Basic knowledge of commercial business operations
  • Working knowledge of risk and compliance requirements for charities
  • Knowledge of carbon / environmental accounting and reduction
  • Basic knowledge of charity law and the Code of Good Governance
  • Experience of managing a small team
