Your new companyI'm working with a well-established manufacturing organisation that's passionate about continuous improvement and operational excellence. They're known for their collaborative culture and commitment to innovation and they're now looking for a talented Commodity Buyer to join their procurement team. If you're someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and enjoys making a real impact, this could be a brilliant opportunity for you.The role will require you to be on-site 5 days a week between 8:30 - 16:30 (Monday to Friday).Your new roleAs the Commodity Buyer, you'll be leading negotiations, managing supplier relationships, and driving cost-saving initiatives. You'll work closely with internal teams to ensure the supply base supports business goals, and you'll play a key role in sourcing, auditing, and contract management. It's a varied and hands-on role where your commercial awareness and attention to detail will really shine.Key responsibilities:

  • Manage negotiations for designated commodities and services whilst ensuring compliant routes to market
  • Source and audit new suppliers to develop a varied supply base
  • Develop and manage relationships with suppliers to optimise cost, quality and delivery
  • Identify potential savings in your given commodity area
  • Work closely with engineering to gather requirements for all purchasing
  • Work with internal stakeholders to ensure goods are available

What you'll need to succeed

  • A degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, or a related field.
  • CIPS Level 4+ qualification.
  • 4-6 years' procurement experience, ideally in a manufacturing or engineering setting.
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience with formal tenders and contracts.
  • Familiarity with SAP or MRP systems, and solid Excel/Word skills (Power BI is a bonus!).
  • A proactive, analytical mindset and the ability to build strong relationships across teams.
