We are seeking a Senior Support Worker to assist in leadership and uphold our mission statement and values, ensuring the highest quality of support is consistently provided.

Day-to-Day of the Role:

  • Assist in achieving the aims and objectives of the Statement of Purpose.
  • Manage and support the staff team to meet the needs of the children and young people.
  • Undertake direct work with children and young people as appropriate.
  • Ensure each shift is planned and resources are appropriately allocated.
  • Work in partnership with other professionals to achieve optimum outcomes for young people.
  • Offer supervision and support to staff in line with National Minimum Standards as directed by leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure staff are aware of each child’s care plan and their responsibilities for its implementation.
  • Attend childcare reviews and planning meetings to provide information and achieve the best outcomes for young people.
  • Maintain accurate written records in logs, continuation sheets, and files to enable regular monitoring and evaluation.
  • Chair children’s meetings and facilitate consultation with young people.
  • Develop routines in consultation with young people and staff concerning all aspects of child care.
  • Ensure compliance with National Minimum Standards through appropriate reporting and recording systems.
  • Provide supervisory control and direction related to staff duties and responsibilities.
  • Identify and address individual training and development needs of staff.
  • Assist in promoting personal and professional development through appropriate delegation of duties and responsibilities.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Desire to work towards obtaining Diploma Level 3 in Children & Young People Workforce.
  • Knowledge of National Minimum Standards, Children Act, and other relevant legislation.
  • Minimum 12 months relevant supervisory experience.
  • Excellent organisational and team-building skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Understanding the needs of BESD children including managing challenging behaviour.
