Red Snapper Recruitment are recruiting for a domestic abuse worker for a client of ours based in Hereford. The purpose of this role is to offer high quality, person centred and trauma informed safe accommodation and support services to survivors of Domestic Abuse, enabling them to move on into safe, stable and positive futures.

Please note for this role, a full driving license is essential and access to own vehicle.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of customers living in temporary accommodation supporting them to access more permanent safe accommodation.
  • Working closely with key partners, deliver quality, outcome focused support in both one-to-one and group sessions, providing both emotional and practical support.
  • Provide drop in sessions to survivors in safe environments such as housing departments, libraries and children centres.
  • To foster environments and interventions that are inclusive and delivered in line with the diverse needs of survivors of domestic abuse.
  • Identify and signpost customers to any services they may benefit from that is available from partner agencies, supporting customers to access these services.
  • To ensure that our customers are supported to stay safe and are aware of their rights to legal protection for themselves, arranging for the provision of legal advice as required and accompanying our customers to appointments if appropriate.
  • Maintain up to date risk assessments and support plans for all customers and ensure that safety planning is a major component of this as well as compliance with Stonewater Safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • To be an ambassador for the Service, working in partnership with local specialist support agencies and statutory organisations, and ensuring attendance at local meetings and networks where appropriate i.e. MARAC and MASH.
  • To promote independent living and support customers to exit from the service in a planned and positive way.

Person Specification

  • Proven experience of working with people who have multiple complex needs and/or those who have experienced domestic abuse.
  • Experience in completing risk assessments and carrying out robust safety planning.
  • An understanding of the practical, emotional, economic and social issues of those experiencing Domestic Abuse, particularly those with multiple complex needs.
  • Proven experience of complex caseload management, with a clear focus on outcomes for customers and their wider community and ability to record concise, accurate case notes and support paperwork. An understanding of the effects of domestic abuse related trauma, appropriate responses and professional boundaries
  • Ability to demonstrate partnership working with specialist agencies such as mental health teams, offending services or other relevant services.
  • Ability to provide quality, short-term casework.
  • Working knowledge of housing and benefits advice and experience of using a housing management / domestic abuse system, or similar software.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work in a professional manner with a number of different agencies, including representation at multi-disciplinary meetings.
  • An understanding of equal opportunities and its practical application, including providing support to meet the cultural needs of survivors of domestic abuse
  • Ability to work under pressure and using your own initiative.
  • Numerate and literate to GCSE standard, IT literate and able to use all Microsoft packages.
  • Level 3 qualification i.e. Health and Social Care (or equivalent); or other relevant experience/qualifications in a role-related field.
