Financial Accountant - 16 month Fixed Term Contract - £50,000 per year + Benefits - London (Hybrid) 2 days in the office

FryerMiles are delighted to be working with a global petroleum company to assist with their recruitment of a Financial Accountant to join their team on a 16 month fixed term contract based from their Central London offices.

The successful candidates will be responsible for a wide range of duties and gain exposure to a variety of issues and tasks, including extensive interaction with the wider business. This role suits a driven and hardworking individual who would enjoy working in a fast paced growth environment and is ready to provide their expertise and support for the growing demands and pressures on the Finance function.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

Banking and Treasury

  • Prepare and send a weekly treasury report to senior management, including a cash position waterfall with detailed analysis of weekly movements
  • Management of deposit accounts to increase interest profit
  • Manage interest rate and foreign exchange risk

Monthly Financial Close

  • Manage day-to-day functioning of accounts payable in London, covering two entities
  • Maintain group weekly spend and Accounts Payable report and graph
  • Ensure FX rates in the accounting system are entered timely and up-to-date

Budgeting and Forecasting

  • Assist with the analysis of monthly direct costs review (budget vs actuals) and weekly cash flows as required
  • Update budget vs actuals forecasts (monthly) and send out to HoD for review
  • Arrange and manage quarterly meetings with HoD to discuss month end accruals as well as past and future spend
  • Assist with preparation of G&A budgets and reforecasts as and when required

External Reporting

  • Assist with audit queries during half year, year end, JV audit etc

Taxation

  • Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns
  • PSA calculations and submission 
  • P11D calculations and submission

Other

  • Ensure accounts payable practices are consistent across the geographical locations
  • Identify and lead change to improve existing processes and controls
  • First point of contact with AP general related queries and resolving issues (both externally and internally)

Qualifications and Experience:

  • ACCA or studying towards
  • Finance or Accounting Degree is desirable
  • Upstream oil and gas operating company experience is desirable
  • Previous experience of managing accounts payable processes
  • Experience of deposits and cash management/planning
  • Experience in dealing with banks, opening new bank accounts
