Rochdale Council are looking for a dedicated Grounds Maintenance Worker to join our team in maintaining the beauty and safety of local parks and green spaces. This role is ideal for someone passionate about horticulture and outdoor work, offering a hands-on opportunity to contribute to community well-being.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Perform general gardening and grounds maintenance tasks across various council green spaces.
  • Operate a range of equipment including pedestrian, handheld, and ride-on machines for grass cutting.
  • Conduct strimming, hedge trimming, shrub maintenance, and edging.
  • Remove weeds and perform general street cleansing.
  • Litter picking and emptying of litter bins as required.
  • Work flexibly across different locations within the borough.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Physical fitness and reliability.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Openness to learning various aspects of horticulture.
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed, on an ad-hoc basis.
  • Desirable: Full and clean driving licence.
  • Desirable: Qualification in Horticulture (NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent) or experience in grounds maintenance.
  • Desirable: Pesticides application Certificate PA1 & PA6.
