At Long Term Futures, we specialise in supporting alternative and specialist provisions across the East Midlands and beyond. We are currently recruiting for a passionate and resilient Behaviour Mentor to join a dedicated team at a highly regarded alternative provision based in High Peak. This site is part of a multi-location provision that offers education to pupils who have been permanently excluded from mainstream settings.

This is a highly rewarding role, ideal for candidates who have experience supporting children and young people with behavioural, emotional, and social needs (BESD), and who are committed to making a lasting difference in young lives.

About the Role:

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will:

  • Work closely with pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups to help manage challenging behaviour and support re-engagement in learning.

  • Build trusting relationships and provide consistent emotional and behavioural support.

  • Support pupils in developing self-regulation strategies and improving social interactions.

  • Help maintain a calm, safe and structured learning environment.

  • Contribute to wider pastoral and safeguarding work in collaboration with school staff and external professionals.

About the School:

This setting forms part of a wider trust specialising in alternative education and inclusion. The High Peak site caters to pupils from Reception to Year 11, many of whom have experienced trauma or disrupted learning journeys. With small class sizes and an emphasis on building positive relationships, this provision offers a structured and therapeutic approach to supporting young people with SEMH needs.

The staff team is experienced, compassionate, and committed to ensuring every pupil has the opportunity to thrive. The setting values adaptability, resilience, and a genuine desire to support some of the most vulnerable learners in Derbyshire.

Requirements:

To be considered for this role, you must:

  • Have previous experience working with children or young people with challenging behaviour (education, youth work, social care or similar).

  • Understand the complexities of trauma-informed practice and restorative approaches.

  • Hold a valid UK driving licence and have access to your own vehicle for daily commuting and possible travel between sites.

  • Be calm under pressure, emotionally resilient and a team player.

  • Have an enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to apply for one through Long Term Futures.
