SEMH Teaching Assistant

Academics is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive school in the High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire who are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEMH (Social, Emotional, Mental Health) Teaching Assistant to support students on a 1:1 and small group basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in SEN, youth work, or behaviour support to join a supportive team and have a real impact.
About the Role:
Supporting pupils with SEMH needs in the classroom and during interventions
Working closely with class teachers and the SENCO to implement personalised support plans
Using de-escalation strategies and restorative approaches to manage behaviour
Helping to create a safe, positive, and nurturing learning environment
You Will Need:
Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs (in school, care, youth work or similar settings)
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
A DBS on the update service (or be willing to apply for one through us)
