Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Engineering Manager to lead our client's engineering operations at their depot in High Wycombe. You will be responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient delivery of engineering services that uphold their high standards of safety, compliance, and customer service. This is a key leadership position, with a focus on people management, safety performance, and delivering value.
Key Responsibilities
Service Delivery
- Ensure consistent delivery of a safe, reliable, and high-quality engineering service.
- Drive continuous improvement in operational performance and reliability.
Safety
- Promote and uphold health and safety standards across the depot.
- Ensure all activities comply with company policies and legal obligations.
Value & Efficiency
- Oversee vehicle and property maintenance in line with set budgets.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements.
People
- Lead, motivate, and develop the engineering team.
- Ensure all team members are competent, well-trained, and supported.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent
- Strong understanding of DVSA and DfT standards
- Mechanical engineering knowledge, with commercial/heavy vehicle experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and willingness to learn bespoke IT systems
- Strong grasp of risk assessments and H&S practices
- Full UK manual driving licence
- Willingness and ability to gain:
- Transport Manager CPC qualification
- PCV licence
- Additional training for role enhancement
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Transport Manager CPC qualification
- Higher education in engineering or management
- Membership of relevant professional bodies (e.g. CILT, SOE)
- IOSH or equivalent H&S qualification
- PCV licence holder
- Experience with digital maintenance software
- Knowledge of 5S principles and continuous improvement methodologies
