We're looking for an experienced Transport Broker / Trader to join our high-performing operations team in Wakefield. With a growing portfolio of national accounts and a well-established subcontractor network, this is a role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, commercially focused environment and is ready to take their career to the next level.
What You'll Get
- 34,000 starting salary, rising to 38,000 after successful 6-month probation

- On-call allowance: 100/week (every 5-6 weeks)

What You'll Do
- Plan and allocate loads daily, balancing service and profit
- Use freight exchange platforms to secure additional work
- Negotiate rates confidently with hauliers and subcontractors
- Build lasting relationships with customers and carriers
- Proactively manage delivery performance and resolve issues fast
- Maintain accurate records in our TMS (Mandata)
- Contribute to a collaborative, results-driven team culture
What We're Looking For
You're a confident communicator and natural problem-solver who thrives under pressure. You know the UK transport market, understand the importance of margin and service, and enjoy taking full ownership of your workload.
Essential Experience & Skills
- Previous experience in transport brokerage or subcontract haulage
- Strong negotiating skills and commercial mindset
- Solid knowledge of UK geography and general haulage operations
- Familiarity with transport regulations (drivers' hours, WTD, etc.)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and transport software
- Experience using TMS (Mandata preferred)
