Are you a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer ready to take ownership of exciting workplace fit-out projects across London and beyond My client, a respected and forward-thinking building services consultancy, is looking for a talented individual to join their growing team of engineers, designers, and technical specialists.
About the Role
As a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer, you’ll lead the mechanical design process on high-profile commercial projects, delivering innovative and sustainable solutions that meet client expectations and industry standards. You’ll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and have the opportunity to work across all RIBA stages.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical design on workplace fit-out projects
- Deliver sustainable and technically sound solutions
- Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets
- Represent my client in client meetings and presentations
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team development
- Ensure all work aligns with company procedures and quality standards
- Actively participate in training and industry events to stay ahead
What We’re Looking For
- Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering (BEng, BSc, or MEng)
- Chartered or working towards chartership (CIBSE, IMechE, IET)
- Proven experience as a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer in building services
- Strong fit-out experience (workplace preferred, retail acceptable)
- Proficiency in Hevacomp or IES software
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
