I’m working with a well-established food manufacturing business that’s looking to add a Shift engineer to their engineering team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a multi-skilled engineer to work in a modern, fast-paced environment where engineering plays a key role in business success.
You’ll be responsible for both reactive and preventative maintenance across a variety of food processing equipment including filling machines, spiral freezers, pumps, steam kettles, metal detectors, and depositors. This role is a true 50/50 split between mechanical and electrical work.
Key responsibilities:
Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance on factory equipment
Fault-finding on mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems
Supporting production teams to minimise downtime and maximise machine availability
Logging maintenance activity through the site’s CMMS (Shires)
Coaching and supporting operators and junior engineers
Proactively identifying opportunities for continuous improvement
Collaborating closely with the Maintenance and Engineering Managers
The ideal candidate will have:
NVQ Level 3 / HND or equivalent in Engineering
Minimum 3 years' experience in a food manufacturing environment
Experience with CI projects and proactive engineering approaches
Good working knowledge of CMMS systems
Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team
IT literacy and confidence liaising across departments
