I’m working with a well-established food manufacturing business that’s looking to add a Shift engineer to their engineering team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a multi-skilled engineer to work in a modern, fast-paced environment where engineering plays a key role in business success.

You’ll be responsible for both reactive and preventative maintenance across a variety of food processing equipment including filling machines, spiral freezers, pumps, steam kettles, metal detectors, and depositors. This role is a true 50/50 split between mechanical and electrical work.

Key responsibilities:

  • Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance on factory equipment

  • Fault-finding on mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems

  • Supporting production teams to minimise downtime and maximise machine availability

  • Logging maintenance activity through the site’s CMMS (Shires)

  • Coaching and supporting operators and junior engineers

  • Proactively identifying opportunities for continuous improvement

  • Collaborating closely with the Maintenance and Engineering Managers

The ideal candidate will have:

  • NVQ Level 3 / HND or equivalent in Engineering

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a food manufacturing environment

  • Experience with CI projects and proactive engineering approaches

  • Good working knowledge of CMMS systems

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team

  • IT literacy and confidence liaising across departments
