Transport Compliance Officer

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Transport Compliance Officer to join our team at our headquarters in Alton, Hampshire

 

Main Purpose of the Role

The Transport and Compliance Manager is responsible for ensuring the efficient and compliant operation of our transport fleet. This includes meticulous maintenance planning, regulatory adherence, and implementing safety protocols.

 

Roles and Responsibilities
  1. Oversee all aspects of compliance, including servicing and MOTs, monitoring overdue services, and ensuring our team supports customer O licence requirements.
  2. Maintain databases of vehicle registrations, inspections, and maintenance of fleet management. Monitor and update fleet data management system.
  3. Ensure fleet availability to meet all requests from Conquip operations nationally.
  4. Work closely with senior management on new specifications/orders and manage all fleet details prior to delivery.
  5. Maintain knowledge and utilise all fleet information to forecast for new requirements.
  6. Assist in planning, process, and executing vehicle lease, purchase, and replacement for all Conquip operations nationally.
  7. Participate fully in ongoing operational improvements, providing engineering support to identify and secure cost savings across the business.
  8. Generate monthly fuel reports and submit expenditure reports.
  9. Investigate all MOT failures and PGs, compiling findings and recommendations reports.
  10. Vet new suppliers and service agents. Set up service contracts to provide support to our customers.
  11. Perform vehicle registration, insurance, and documentation for new vehicles within the existing fleet.
  12. Oversee routine maintenance, obtain tags for new vehicles, and renew old ones to ensure scheduled fleet management.
  13. Monitor and ensure fleet operation compliance with DVLA and DVSA rules and regulations.
  14. Monitor and ensure driver hours compliance with DVSA rules and regulations.
  15. Streamline and monitor fuel purchase system with assistance of Fuel Cards for all vehicles and drivers.
  16. Participate in various workshops and educational programmes to maintain knowledge on all industry-relevant publications.
  17. Oversee compliance on our own fleet.
  18. Maintain FORS and CLOCS accreditation.
  19. Conduct spot checks and fleet audits on suppliers and depots.
  20. Develop and implement standard operational standards to maintain vehicles by advocating best practises in the industry.
  21. Work closely with the depot-based transport operations teams to ensure the fleet remains safe and compliant at all times, while maximising vehicle and trailer uptime.
  22. Carry out any other administrative duties involved with operating a large fleet.
  23. Manage vehicle returns at the end of life/spot rental, checking paperwork, recording vehicle condition, etc.
  24. Collaborate with the Transport Manager and Transport Controllers, sharing information and stepping in when necessary.
  25. Assist with any other reasonable requests from the Transport Manager and Directors.
  26. Facilitate and implement corrective actions and capacity building to manage the entire fleet and achieve company objectives.

 

Basic Skills Required
  • Computer Skills (Word, Excel, and in-house Fleet Management systems)
  • Geographical knowledge of the UK
  • Vehicle knowledge (including HGVs)
  • CPC Management qualification
  • Management of operator's licence
  • FORS & CLOCS standards
