Supply Desk is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teacher to join a supportive special educational setting in Watford from September. This full-time role offers a rewarding opportunity to make a lasting difference in the lives of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including autism, learning difficulties, and complex needs.
The school is known for its inclusive ethos, strong leadership, and commitment to providing personalised learning for every child. The ideal candidate will have experience working with SEND pupils and a strong passion for creating a nurturing, structured, and engaging classroom environment.
Job Description:
- Plan and deliver differentiated lessons tailored to the individual needs of students with a range of special educational needs, including ASD, SLD, and MLD.
- Develop and implement Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Work collaboratively with support staff, therapists, the SENCO, and external agencies to ensure consistent and effective support.
- Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages pupil engagement, emotional regulation, and academic progress.
- Monitor and assess student progress, maintaining accurate records and reporting regularly to parents and the wider team.
- Adapt teaching materials and strategies to ensure accessibility and progress for all students.
- Promote social, emotional, and behavioural development, managing challenging behaviour calmly and effectively.
- Engage in regular CPD, staff meetings, and training to maintain best practices in SEND education.
Our ideal candidate will:
- Hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent and have experience teaching students with SEND.
- Be passionate about inclusive education and committed to supporting students with complex learning needs.
- Demonstrate excellent differentiation skills and the ability to adapt to varying learning styles.
- Have strong communication and teamwork skills, and be confident liaising with a multidisciplinary team.
- Be proactive, patient, resilient, and flexible in approach.
- Hold or be willing to obtain an enhanced DBS check.
- Be open to further training in SEND-specific strategies, safeguarding, and behaviour support.
