Assistant Manager | Castleton, Hope Valley | Full Time | £30,000 – £33,000 per year, based on a 5-day working week (weekends included)

Our client is a 17th century coaching inn located in the heart of the Peak District National Forest. They are looking to recruit a hands-on Assistant Manager for their 10-bedroomed Pub, Cafe, and Restaurant.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the hospitality industry and a genuine passion for helping the business grow and develop.

Please note – This is not a live-in role – you must live within 30–45 minutes of Castleton and be able to drive (public transport is not an option)

Are you the right person for the job?

  • Proven experience in a bar, cafĂ©/restaurant, and cellar management
  • Fully fluent in written and spoken English
  • Comfortable working with a mixed-age team and confident communicating with all types of people
  • Must be prepared to stay overnight occasionally in winter if Castleton is cut off (accommodation provided in one of our guest rooms)
  • Computer literate
  • Proficient in using social media platforms for marketing and customer engagement
  • Comfortable with general kitchen prep and up-to-date Food Hygiene certification

What will your role look like?

  • Support the General Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the pub, cafĂ©, restaurant, and accommodation areas, ensuring smooth and efficient service
  • Oversee general kitchen prep and assist the kitchen team as needed while upholding food hygiene and safety standards
  • Help promote the business and attract new customers through marketing activities
  • Monitor stock levels, place orders, and manage inventory to minimise waste and ensure availability of supplies
  • Greet customers, take orders, serve food and drinks, and make sure every guest feels welcome and well looked after
  • Assist in managing budgets, controlling costs, and maximising profitability
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and health and safety across all areas
