Red Sky are recruiting on behalf of our client for a strategic and experienced Operations Manager / General Manager to lead their busy workshop operations based at Gatwick Airport.
This is a key leadership role, ideal for someone with a strong background in automotive, engineering, or logistics operations. You’ll be responsible for driving performance, compliance, and service excellence, directly supporting the smooth operation of airport ground services.

Operations Manager/ General Manager Key Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, coach, and allocate engineering/operational resources effectively.
- Ensure timely, cost-effective workshop repairs with the Workshop Manager.
- Drive continuous improvement, reduce inefficiencies, and uphold compliance.
- Manage budgets, reporting, and performance metrics.
- Oversee vehicle and equipment standards, audits, and certifications.
- Maintain strong client relationships and excellent service delivery.
- Support recruitment, team engagement, and HR processes.
- Ensure full compliance with airport, safety, and regulatory requirements.
Operations Manager/General Manager Candidate Requirements
Essential:
- Proven experience as a Workshop Operations Manager or in a similar role in the automotive sector or logistics sectors.
- Strong background in workshop or engineering operations management.
- Demonstrated ability to manage teams, optimize resources, and deliver results under pressure.
- Sound understanding of health & safety, airport operations, and regulatory compliance.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and capable of generating operational reports and performance analysis.
Operations Manager/General Manager Desirable:
- Higher education qualification in business, engineering, or operations management (or equivalent management training/experience).
- Experience in multi-site or remote site operational leadership.
- Understanding of the equipment leasing and lifecycle management process.
- Exposure to GSE procurement and technical specifications.
