Red Sky are recruiting on behalf of our client for a strategic and experienced Operations Manager / General Manager to lead their busy workshop operations based at Gatwick Airport.

This is a key leadership role, ideal for someone with a strong background in automotive, engineering, or logistics operations. You’ll be responsible for driving performance, compliance, and service excellence, directly supporting the smooth operation of airport ground services.

Operations Manager/ General Manager Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

Lead, coach, and allocate engineering/operational resources effectively.
Ensure timely, cost-effective workshop repairs with the Workshop Manager.
Drive continuous improvement, reduce inefficiencies, and uphold compliance.
Manage budgets, reporting, and performance metrics.
Oversee vehicle and equipment standards, audits, and certifications.
Maintain strong client relationships and excellent service delivery.
Support recruitment, team engagement, and HR processes.
Ensure full compliance with airport, safety, and regulatory requirements.

Operations Manager/General Manager Candidate Requirements

Essential:

Proven experience as a Workshop Operations Manager or in a similar role in the automotive sector or logistics sectors.
Strong background in workshop or engineering operations management.
Demonstrated ability to manage teams, optimize resources, and deliver results under pressure.
Sound understanding of health & safety, airport operations, and regulatory compliance.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and capable of generating operational reports and performance analysis.

Operations Manager/General Manager Desirable:

Higher education qualification in business, engineering, or operations management (or equivalent management training/experience).
Experience in multi-site or remote site operational leadership.
Understanding of the equipment leasing and lifecycle management process.
Exposure to GSE procurement and technical specifications.
