We are seeking to appoint a committed, qualified, and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our thriving Hornchurch school community from September 2025.

This is an exciting opportunity for a confident and capable HLTA to play a key role in our Inclusion department across both the infant and junior schools. Working closely with our Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion, the successful candidate will support strategic inclusion initiatives, contribute to the leadership of support staff, and provide effective classroom cover when required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Cover classes at short notice (unplanned absence) in place of supply teachers

  • Lead and manage a team of Teaching Assistants, contributing to their training and development

  • Assist the Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion with administrative duties and wider strategic planning

  • Support pupils with a range of SEND, adapting and modifying interactions to suit individual needs

  • Deliver structured group activities and promote effective classroom and group dynamics

  • Recognise behaviour patterns that may indicate issues such as substance abuse, bullying, or safeguarding concerns

  • Foster community inclusion and support pupils' educational and emotional development

Essential Skills & Qualities:
  • Qualified HLTA status

  • Proven experience working in primary or infant/junior settings

  • Excellent communication and time management skills

  • Confidence supporting students with a wide range of SEND

  • Ability to lead and support support-staff teams effectively

  • Passion for inclusion, safeguarding, and child development
