About the SENCO Role:As the Primary School SENCO at this school in Havering, London, you will be responsible for coordinating SEN provision across the school, working closely with teaching staff, support staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure all pupils with special educational needs achieve their full potential. You will also play a key role in developing inclusive practices and leading SEN strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of the SEN policy
  • Lead on the identification, assessment, and provision for pupils with SEN
  • Work in partnership with families and external professionals
  • Support and train staff to deliver high-quality, inclusive teaching
  • Maintain accurate records and manage EHCP processes effectively
  • Liaise with relevant external parties to make referrals
  • Manage a case load of children with additional needs to ensure a well rounded education

Person Specification:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential
  • Ideally holds the NASENCO qualification
  • Experience in a SENCO or similar leadership role within a primary school
  • A clear understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and current legislation
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
