Base Location: Hornsea

Salary: 500 per day

Working Pattern: 40 hours per week / Full time

Duration: 12 Months

SSE Thermal is seeking a talented and experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our established project team. This role involves delivering small to medium scale multidiscipline projects at our underground salt cavity natural gas storage facilities in Atwick and Aldbrough.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Schedule work and financial programs to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet customer requirements.
  • Manage the full project lifecycle, from conception through to final handover.
  • Define specification requirements for engineering contracts, draft necessary documentation, and participate in tender evaluations.
  • Provide technical advice and support to technical staff on relevant matters.
  • Participate in the preparation of the business capital budget and control costs to meet budget requirements.
  • Manage and report on finance, procurement, and contracts.
  • Engage in design, project management, and commissioning of plant modifications.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety Executive (HSE), Environment Agency, COMAH, ATEX/DSEAR, PSSR, PE(S)R, and other relevant standards.

Essential Skills:

  • Minimum HNC in Engineering Discipline (or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of industry legislation, health and safety legislation, and engineering standards.
  • Experience with relevant engineering and plant design standards (e.g., PE(S)R, PSSR, ASME B31.3, ATEX/DSEAR).
  • Experience in the maintenance and engineering of mechanical plant and equipment.
  • Computer literacy and ability to operate in a structured project environment.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Project management process training.

Desirable Skills:

  • Previous experience on high hazard or COMAH sites.
  • Project engineering experience.
