As an Engineering Team Leader, you will play a critical role in overseeing and guiding a team of talented electronic & electrical engineers. Your leadership and technical expertise will drive the successful design, development, and implementation of cutting-edge electronic & electrical systems. 

Key Responsibilities of the Engineering Team Leader:

  • Lead and mentor a team of electronic & electrical engineers, providing technical guidance and support to team members, assisting with complex problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Oversee the design, development, and testing of electronic & electrical systems, in line with the project development lifecycle, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget, including project resource allocations, definition of electrical work packages and task management. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, software, and systems engineers, to ensure seamless integration of electronic & electrical systems.
  • Review, maintain and update and improve working practices associated with electrical and electronics design and development, including internal documentation.
  • Support the sales team with new bid and opportunities, queries and discussions related to electrical systems.
  • Identifying resource needs and lead recruitment activities for the electrical team
  • Keep the business up to date with latest technological advancements and industry trends, ensuring your team remains at the forefront of innovation.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and industry standards throughout the development and deployment of electronic and electrical systems.

Skills & Experience Required for the Engineering Team Leader:

Essential

  • A degree at 2:1 or above in electrical or electronics - or a closely related discipline
  • Experience of technical project management, following the design lifecycle.
  • Experience of working with motion control systems
  • Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving activities
  • Experience of following and implementing (or supporting implementation of) legal compliance activities (CE marking/Safety. Etc)
  • Experience of providing technical input to new bids and opportunities
  • Experience of working with safety aspects of electrical and control systems

Desirable 

  • Masters degree in electronics/electrical engineering or closely related discipline
  • 5 years proven experience of technical team leadership
  • Appreciation of software development lifecycle and interaction with electronics and systems requirements
  • Understanding of systems engineering
  • Experience of conducting EMC testing for compliance activities
  • Detailed understanding and experience of control theory for electromechanical applications
