DT/Engineering Graduate Teaching Assistant
We are looking for passionate DT or Engineering graduates who want to begin working and training as an SEND Teaching Assistant within one of our SEND schools in Horsham.

This school is set in a wonderful, picturesque countryside location in Horsham. This is an all-through boys school specialising in pupils with Autism, ADHD and Trauma. They also work with pupils with Social Emotional and Mental Health and other SEN conditions. Where this provision is located within the countryside, it has an extensive Forest School Programme and excellent sporting facilities.
They currently have a need for Teaching Assistants with a DT or Engineering background to help support in their Design & Technology department. The boys are encouraged to make a variety of different projects, including woodworking, and have even worked on hovercrafts and motorbikes! This position will be well suited to someone who is very confident in their subject so they are also able to help the children socially and emotionally during lessons, helping manage behaviours when needed.
This role would also be well suited to anyone from a DT, Engineering or relevant background gained from professional experience rather than a degree, so please do apply if you think this role sounds interesting!
Due to the location of the school, the ideal candidate will need to be a driver, as it is not accessible by Public Transport.

Ability to form excellent relationships and rapport with pupils
Your Role

Supporting a range of vulnerable children between the ages of 7 - 18 years
-
Be able to appropriately calm children down and de-escalate
-
Be able to effectively behaviour manage
-
Working with other support staff to engage pupils in class and minimise disruption

Providing feedback to teachers and parents

Be available - Full time - 8.30am - 4pm (and until 5pm on Mondays)
About you:

Be passionate about supporting the development of children and young adults

Have a University degree in a relevant subject from within the last 5 years

Be personable, kind and empathetic

Be versatile, willing to learn and develop your skills

Be confident, and have a strong sense of behaviour management

Have some experience with children, or be passionate about doing so

Driver with access to their own vehicle

Either have an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to have one processed
