About the Client:

The independent residential/ special school for girls and boys caters for  ages 7 -19. All students are placed by local authorities and have education, health and care plans related to autism spectrum disorder and associated difficulties. Many have been out of education for long periods before joining the school.   

Job overview:

The Night Support Worker will be responsible for providing high-quality care and support during nighttime hours to students with special educational needs(austism, challenging behaviour and learning difficulties). This role is crucial to ensuring the safety, well-being, and emotional support of our pupils as they rest and engage in nighttime activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide nighttime supervision and support for students, ensuring a safe and secure environment.
  • Assist with personal care routines as needed, promoting dignity and independence.
  • Monitor students' behaviour and respond to incidents appropriately, utilizing de-escalation techniques when necessary.
  • Engage with students in meaningful activities to promote social interaction and emotional well-being.
  • Document and report on students’ progress and any incidents or concerns during the night shift.
  • Collaborate with daytime staff to ensure a seamless transition between night and day care.
  • Maintain a clean and organized living environment, adhering to health and safety standards.
  • Participate in regular training and development courses to enhance skills and knowledge related to special educational needs.
  • To build and promote good relationships and communication with both children/young people and staff.
  • To be innovative, creative and flexible, and has an open mind and a willingness to learn.
  • Able to demonstrate empathy, sensitivity, self-awareness and acceptance of others.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
