Material Handler (Team Leader)

Job Description

We are currently working with a client based in Houghton Le Spring who are experiencing exciting growth in their Food Manufacturing business. We are recruiting for a Material Handler with team leading experience to support in the expansion of the team. Duties

  • This role is for a working team leader who will have high influence and is critical to the delivery of the production plan and production efficiencies.
  • The primary responsibility is to keep production departments supplied with materials to deliver the requirements of the Production Plan and meet Production Efficiency Targets.
  • The Material Handler will operate in either of the areas below:
  • Batch Preparation (Full Bag / Part Bag / WIP)
  • Production (Mixing / Packing)
  • At the end of each week, a formal plan to be understood to deliver the next working week. This will include staffing allocation to specific areas of work, Staff will be informed of the expected targets and kept up to date with progress.
  • Inform line manager of where you would expect your department to be every hour.
  • Monitor and control the overall production functions across all shifts, ensuring compliance within the factory within agreed quality parameters and in a safe working environment.
  • Be certain that product safety and hygiene requirements meet both internal specification, and HACCP requirements, at all times
  • Maintain the required high standard of housekeeping, and GMP, at all times
  • Where an incident does occur, that is beyond your remit, escalate immediately to the Production Supervisor / Shift Manager.
  • Ensuring safety regulations are adhered to.EG the wearing of PPE is enforced.
  • Achieve agreed targets and tasks through effective team management and involvement. Implement and maintain the company SOPs.
  • Ensure any gaps in training are highlighted.
  • Ensure all products meet the requirements of the internal specifications.
  • Support the technical team in ensuring all process monitoring requirements are completed to the required standards.
  • Actively encourage your team to put quality before efficiency. Deliver Toolbox talks to your team on quality issues and counter-measures.

· Ensure data is gathered to capture performance results daily.

  • Maintain Company operating procedures and work with the Quality Assurance team, completing appropriate QA documentation ensuring product quality and standards.
  • Paperwork up to date.

  • HACCP
  • Computer Literate
  • FLT Trained

Additional Information

Location:

Hetton Le Hole

Hours of work:

2 shift rotation - Days and Backs

  • 7am till 3pm
  • 3pm till 11pm

Rates of pay:

  • Days - £12.21 p/h
  • Lates - £13.70 p/h

After 12 weeks the day shift rate increases to £12.75p/h - £13.60p/h plus shift allowance and team leader allowance
