(Import Coordinator) - Position Overview
An established, international logistics company is seeking an experienced Import Coordinator to join their UK team. In this role, you will manage the end-to-end inbound shipment process, ensuring smooth customs clearance, compliance with international shipping regulations, and timely delivery to customers. You will also handle invoicing and billing, liaise with suppliers, carriers, and internal teams, and play a key role in maintaining efficient import operations.
(Import Coordinator) - Position Responsibilities
- Manage the full import process, ensuring timely and accurate handling of shipments.
- Coordinate with suppliers, carriers, and customs brokers to guarantee proper clearance and delivery.
- Prepare, review, and maintain import documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and certificates of origin.
- Ensure compliance with customs regulations and international trade laws.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of customs requirements and tariff codes.
- Communicate with customers regarding shipment status, arranging final delivery and resolving any issues.
- Oversee invoicing and billing processes, including preparing invoices, tracking payments, and handling inquiries.
- Track shipments to ensure timely delivery and adherence to budgets.
- Collaborate with internal teams (customer service, warehouse, transport, finance) to coordinate import activities efficiently.
- Provide regular updates to both customers and internal teams regarding cargo movements and delivery timelines.
(Import Coordinator) - Position Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or import/export operations.
- Strong knowledge of import/export documentation and customs procedures.
- Proficiency in shipping software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- Knowledge of international trade laws and regulations is highly desirable.
- Experience with invoicing, billing, and financial coordination.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
(Import Coordinator) - Position Remuneration
- Salary: 30,000 - 35,000
- Monday to Friday: 8:30 to 17:30 (plus alternate weekend work)
- 28 days Holiday (including bank holidays)
