Job Advert: Part-Time - Financial Controller

Location: Huddersfield, West Yorkshire (Office/Hybrid)

Position: Part-Time / Flexibility

Reports to: Managing Director

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership:

  • Take full ownership of financial leadership, promoting company values and fostering a collaborative, accountable, and innovative culture.
  • Partner strategically with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to provide insights and drive operational efficiency.
  • Actively support decision-making with valuable financial insights and challenges.

Financial Control:

  • Oversee all aspects of the finance function, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Maintain robust financial controls and manage overheads, adhering to budgets and recommending corrective actions.
  • Lead the period-end financial close process and oversee treasury activities, including cash management and forex.
  • Manage accounts payable/receivable processes to improve working capital.
  • Support periodic forecasting, planning, and annual budgeting.
  • Collaborate with external advisors, including accountants and tax specialists.

Finance Team:

  • Establish efficient, consistent standards and processes within the finance function.
  • Coach and develop finance team members, encouraging continuous improvement.
  • Optimise reporting processes using production management systems and Excel.
Qualifications & Experience:

Essential:

  • Proven experience as a Financial Manager with a track record of driving accuracy and efficiency.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience within a small finance team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage non-finance colleagues.
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail and the bigger picture.
  • Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, or ACA) with at least 10 years' post-qualification experience.
  • Advanced Excel skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience in owner-managed businesses.
  • Familiarity with import/export processes and postponed import VAT regimes.
  • Knowledge of Progress Plus and SAGE 50 software.
