We are seeking a dedicated Engineer (NRASWA Inspector) to join our Highway Network Management team. This role is crucial for monitoring and ensuring compliance with NRASWA standards on various highway projects. It involves both office duties and extensive fieldwork, providing a dynamic work environment.
Day-to-day of the role:- Monitor and report on works on the highway by carrying out inspections under NRASWA, focusing on works, reinstatements, and ironwork.
- Ensure compliance with signing, lighting, and guarding requirements as per Chapter 8 of the Traffic Signs Manual and the "Safety at Street Works and Road Works: A Code of Practice."
- Enforce adherence to the "Specification for the Reinstatement of Openings in Highways."
- Record details of inspections and maintain records to support the recovery of relevant fees and charges, including NRASWA inspections, Section 74, Fixed Penalty Notices, and approvals for skips, scaffolding, and hoarding.
- Conduct permit compliance checks and assist with the coordination of works, events on the highway, and temporary highway obstructions to ensure safety and compliance.
- Respond to enquiries and service requests, providing support and information to coordination officers and other staff to ensure effective and efficient service delivery.
- Full NRASWA Supervisor accreditation.
- A full and valid driving licence with the ability to drive council vehicles, or willingness to undertake and pass a council driving test.
- Proven experience in highway inspection and management.
- Strong understanding of highway safety regulations and compliance requirements.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication skills for liaising with various stakeholders including utility companies, council teams, and the public.
