We are seeking a dedicated Engineer (NRASWA Inspector) to join our dynamic team. This role is crucial for monitoring and reporting on highway works to ensure compliance with national standards and local policies. The position involves both office and site-based tasks, with a significant portion of the work conducted on-site, inspecting various locations.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:- Monitor and report on works on the highway by carrying out inspections under NRASWA, focusing on works, reinstatements, and ironwork.
- Ensure compliance with signing, lighting, and guarding requirements as per Chapter 8 of the Traffic Signs Manual and the "Safety at Street Works and Road Works: A Code of Practice."
- Verify adherence to the "Specification for the Reinstatement of Openings in Highways."
- Record details of inspections and maintain records to support the recovery of relevant fees and charges, including NRASWA inspections, Section 74, Fixed Penalty Notices, and approvals for skips, scaffolding, and hoarding.
- Conduct permit compliance checks and assist with the coordination of works, events on the highway, and temporary highway obstructions to ensure safety and compliance.
- Respond to enquiries and provide support and information to coordination officers and other staff to ensure effective and efficient service delivery.
- Must hold full NRASWA Supervisor accreditation.
- A full and valid driving licence is essential, with the ability to drive a council vehicle or willingness to pass a Kirklees Council driving test.
- Proven experience in highway inspection or a similar role, with a strong understanding of NRASWA and related regulations.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills, capable of managing multiple tasks and working under pressure.
- Good IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to manage digital records.
