We’re looking for a hands-on Pump Fitter to join a busy engineering workshop in Huddersfield. You’ll work alongside a supportive team of multi-skilled engineers, helping keep a wide range of rotating and electro-mechanical equipment performing at its best.

 

Hours & Pay

  • 35-40K DOE 
  • Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm

  • Overtime available: time and a half during weekdays, double time after the first 4 hours on Saturdays, and double time on Sundays

 

Job Description of a Pump Fitter: 

  • Overhauling and restoring pumps, motors, fans, gearboxes and similar equipment

  • Stripping down units, identifying faults, diagnosing issues and carrying out repairs

  • Building and configuring gearboxes from stocked components to match customer specifications

  • Occasionally attending customer sites when required

  • Taking part in overtime work when necessary

 

Requirements of a Pump Fitter

  • Previous hands-on experience working with pumps or other rotating equipment

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and confidence with strip-downs and re-builds

  • Ability to fault-find and diagnose mechanical issues

  • Understanding of tolerances, bearings, seals and general workshop practices

  • Ability to read technical drawings (desirable)

  • Experience with electric motors or gearboxes (advantageous but not essential)

  • A positive attitude, good teamwork, and willingness to learn

  • Flexibility for occasional site work and overtime
