Sales and Estimating Engineer

Location: Huddersfield, West Yorkshire
Contract: Full-time (36.75 hours per week)
Hours: Monday–Thursday 08:00–16:50, Friday 08:00–12:15

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and commercially minded Sales and Estimating Engineer to join our growing team. This is a highly flexible role, designed to make full use of your technical knowledge and industry experience to help drive the company’s continued success.

The successful candidate will play a key role in developing new business opportunities, maintaining strong relationships with existing customers, and ensuring our costings and quotations are both competitive and commercially sound.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop new customers while managing the needs of existing clients.
  • Prepare detailed costings and quotations for incoming enquiries, ensuring the most cost-efficient manufacturing methods are applied.
  • Conduct customer visits and provide follow-up reports to share insights with the wider team.
  • Source and evaluate new suppliers and materials to enhance production efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Participate actively in regular/monthly sales meetings.
  • Collaborate with production to identify the most efficient manufacturing processes.
  • Contribute to strategic decisions on future equipment investment and production improvements.
  • Support management with ad hoc projects where your expertise can add value.

About You

You’ll be a proactive individual with a strong technical or engineering background and a flair for commercial thinking. You’ll enjoy combining hands-on estimating with customer-facing activity, balancing attention to detail with the ability to see the bigger picture.

Essential skills and qualities:

  • Proven experience in sales, estimating, or engineering within a manufacturing or technical environment.
  • Strong communication and relationship management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Commercial awareness and a drive to identify new business opportunities.
