Hamilton Woods Associates are currently recruiting for a Housing Support Officer to join a social housing provider on a permanent basis, that supports young people aged 16-25 years.

The main purpose of the role will be to assist them in developing life skills, regain stability and transition into independent living.

Responsibilities of the Housing Support Officer:

  • Developing and maintaining supportive, trusting relationships with young residents, acting as a mentor and guide in their journey towards independent living.
  • Supporting young people in navigating housing applications, securing move-on accommodation, and understanding tenancy rights and responsibilities.
  • Assisting residents to improve life skills such as budgeting, cooking and managing tenancies
  • Developing relationships with external services such as mental health professionals, employment services and social workers, to ensure holistic support for residents.
  • Assisting with day-to-day operations, ensuring accommodation remains a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment.
  • Monitoring residents' progress, keeping accurate records, and reporting on outcomes as needed.
  • Facilitating group workshops on topics like independent living skills, confidence-building, and personal wellbeing.
  • Assisting residents in crises and challenging situations

Requirements of the Housing Support Officer:

  • Enhanced DBS or willingness to undergo one
  • Experience in working with young people, particularly those affected by homelessness, trauma, or mental health issues.
