Position: Engineering ManagerLocation: East YorkshireSalary: £80,000 – £85,000 + Pension + Bonus + Life Assurance OverviewA leading UK FMCG manufacturer is seeking an Engineering Manager to take ownership of the engineering strategy and operations at a major production site in East Yorkshire. This is a critical role within a business undergoing significant expansion, with multiple capital projects and process improvements underway.Due to the fast-paced and highly regulated nature of the environment, applications will only be considered from candidates with proven engineering leadership experience within the FMCG sector.Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership & Team DevelopmentLead and develop a skilled engineering team, creating a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement. Work closely with the Site Director to ensure training, succession planning, and performance management are embedded across the department.
  • Planned & Reactive MaintenanceManage the site’s preventative maintenance (PPM) strategy, ensuring minimal unplanned downtime and consistent support for production. Develop reactive response processes to meet the needs of a 24/7 operation.
  • Capital Projects & InstallationsOversee the delivery of capital projects, including new equipment installations and upgrades. Ensure all work is completed to a high standard and complies with UK and EU safety regulations.
  • Compliance & Audit ReadinessMaintain full audit compliance across all engineering systems and documentation. Champion high standards of hygiene, safety, and housekeeping across engineering-controlled areas.
  • Performance & KPI MonitoringTrack and report engineering KPIs. Use data to identify areas for improvement and support operational efficiency. Work collaboratively with production and site leadership to meet site-wide performance goals.
  • Cost Control & Resource OptimisationManage engineering budgets including labour, spares, and consumables. Identify cost efficiencies without compromising safety or operational performance.
Candidate Requirements
  • Demonstrable experience in an Engineering Manager or similar senior engineering role within FMCG manufacturing
  • Strong leadership background with the ability to build, coach, and lead multidisciplinary teams
  • Track record of delivering capital projects and driving continuous improvement
  • Deep understanding of maintenance systems, compliance, and safety standards within an FMCG setting
  • Resilient, adaptable, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced, change-oriented environment
