About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to support a student across KS2 who faces barriers to learning due to social, emotional, or mental health challenges. You'll work closely with class teachers, pastoral staff, and external professionals to create a nurturing and structured environment that encourages growth and engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support tailored to students' individual needs
  • Foster positive relationships and model appropriate behaviours
  • Assist with de-escalation and behaviour management strategies
  • Support classroom activities, both academic and therapeutic
  • Contribute to EHCP reviews and behaviour support plans

About You:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs (school or alternative setting preferred)
  • Calm, empathetic, and resilient in challenging situations
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to teamwork
  • A relevant qualification in education, youth work, or psychology is a plus
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
