Astute's Power team is partnering with a leading O&M provider to recruit an Electrical Technician for its Energy from Waste power plant in Hull.

Responsibilities and duties of the Electrical Technician role



Reporting to the EC and I Lead Technician, you will:

  • Carry out electrical, control and instrumentation maintenance activities in line with site and corporate standards
  • Support fault diagnosis, investigation and resolution in collaboration with operations and engineering teams
  • Deliver planned and reactive maintenance tasks using the site CMMS, ensuring accurate and timely feedback
  • Support safe planning and execution of EC and I works, including coordination with contractors where required
  • Assist with project, outage and modification activities, including effective handover into operations
  • Maintain compliance with permit to work systems, safety procedures and legislative requirements
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities across EC and I systems and maintenance practices
  • Provide out of hours and emergency call-out support as part of the site rota




Professional qualifications



We are looking for someone with the following:

  • Time served apprenticeship with NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in electrical, control or instrumentation engineering
  • IOSH Managing Safely qualification
  • Experience in power generation, energy from waste or a continuous high-hazard operational environment
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and P&IDs
  • Experience working with computerised maintenance management systems
  • Knowledge of safe systems of work, including review of risk assessments and method statements
  • Experience supporting contractor activities and site-based works
