GSL Education is currently recruiting a dedicated and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to support students with Special Educational Needs in a secondary school environment. This role involves working with pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4 who may have Autism, ADHD, SEMH, SLCN, and behavioural needs.

This opportunity is ideal for individuals with experience in SEN, secondary education, care, youth work, or behaviour support who are passionate about helping young people achieve positive educational outcomes.

SEN Teaching Assistant Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEN

  • Support access to the secondary curriculum across a range of subjects

  • Assist students with emotional regulation, behaviour, and transitions

  • Implement strategies outlined in EHCPs and individual support plans

  • Promote independence, confidence, and positive engagement in learning

  • Support teachers with classroom management and lesson delivery

  • Work closely with SENCOs, pastoral teams, and external professionals

  • Follow safeguarding policies and procedures at all times

Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant Requirements
  • Experience supporting secondary-aged pupils with SEN or SEMH

  • Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills

  • Calm, consistent, and patient approach

  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection

  • Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered to the Update Service (or willingness to apply through GSL Education)
