Role Summary
As Engineering Lead, you will take ownership of all site maintenance activities, leading a small engineering team to deliver efficient and effective engineering support across the plant. This is a hands-on role, requiring both technical ability and team leadership to drive performance, improve asset reliability, and ensure high standards of compliance, safety, and food quality.
Key Accountabilities

Lead and support a small team of engineers to deliver planned and reactive maintenance activities across all mechanical, electrical, and utilities assets

Act as the primary point of contact for maintenance during production start-ups, shutdowns, size changes, and process troubleshooting

Deliver and improve preventative maintenance schedules (PPMs) while supporting fault finding and implementing corrective actions

Promote a proactive culture of continuous improvement by identifying efficiency opportunities and adopting new technologies

Collaborate with production and quality teams to ensure full compliance with BRC standards, GMP, HACCP, and food safety requirements

Maintain a strong safety-first approach—reporting hazards, mitigating risks, and supporting a safe working environment

Monitor asset performance and lead improvement initiatives to increase uptime, reduce waste, and optimise cost efficiency

Provide coaching and development to the engineering team, creating a culture of ownership and professional growth
Skills and Experience Required

Recognised engineering qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3 or higher) in maintenance engineering or equivalent

Strong electrical and mechanical experience within a food or FMCG manufacturing environment

Proven team leadership or supervisory experience

Solid understanding of Lean principles, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement tools

Knowledge of Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations and best practices

Familiarity with BRC standards and food manufacturing compliance is highly desirable
