Job Summary:
We are looking for a skilled Chair Upholsterer to upholster various types of chairs, including dining chairs, armchairs, office chairs, and recliners. This role involves fabric selection, frame preparation, padding installation, and detailed upholstery work to meet high-quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cut, sew, and fit fabric or leather coverings according to chair dimensions and design
- Install padding, foam, and upholstery materials using appropriate tools
- Reattach finished materials with staples, tacks, or adhesives
- Match patterns, seams, and detailing for a professional finish
- Communicate with clients or supervisors about design preferences and material choices
- Maintain tools and workspace in an organized, clean condition
- Ensure each chair meets safety, comfort, and aesthetic standards
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in upholstery, especially with chairs
- Proficiency in using upholstery tools (staple guns, sewing machines, cutting tools)
- Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship
- Physical ability to lift, bend, and stand for extended periods
- Basic carpentry or furniture repair skills are a plus
- High school diploma or equivalent; trade certification is a bonus
