About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Timber Machinist to join our manufacturing team in Hull. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about precision woodwork and craftsmanship to work in a dynamic and supportive environment. You'll be responsible for setting up and operating a range of timber cutting machinery to produce high-quality wood components used in joinery and bespoke manufacturing.
Principal Purpose of the Role:
To operate timber cutting machinery safely and accurately, ensuring all components meet precise specifications and quality standards. You'll work with various saws and tools, following strict safety procedures and contributing to the smooth running of the production process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up, calibrate, and operate timber cutting machines including crosscut saws, rip saws, spindle moulders, planers, and CNC routers.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and cutting lists to ensure accurate production.
- Measure and mark timber accurately using tape measures, calipers, and other precision tools.
- Monitor machine performance and carry out routine maintenance checks.
- Inspect finished components for quality and consistency, making adjustments as needed.
- Follow all health and safety procedures, including the use of PPE and safe handling of machinery.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area.
- Collaborate with the production team to meet daily targets and deadlines.
- Report any faults or issues to the supervisor promptly.
What We're Looking For:
- Previous experience as a Wood Machinist or in a similar role within a timber or joinery environment.
- Strong understanding of woodworking machinery and tools.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work to tight tolerances.
- Good communication skills and a proactive approach to teamwork.
- Commitment to health and safety standards.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
