Technical Supervisor

Doves Farm Foods Ltd is a successful, award-winning, family-owned food business, specialising in artisan, organic and free from flours and foods. It operates a portfolio of loved, market leading brands including Doves Farm, FREEE and Wessex Mill.

The Technical Supervisor role will provide a first point of contact for day to day running of the technical team as well as supporting with technical training, technical audits and follow up for corrective actions and site improvements.

The role will provide direct supervision for the QA function as well as supplier and customer information required.

The role is office based full time on our site 3 miles outside Hungerford in the beautiful North Wessex Downs.

TEAM

The role will be part of the Doves Farm Foods technical team and reports to the Head of Technical and Compliance. It will also work closely with the production team leaders to monitor quality and lead production quality training and improvements to ensure products consistently meet legal and customer quality standards. Maintain audit readiness and champion continuous improvement in food safety and quality culture.

GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • A key member of the HACCP team for all departments
  • Manage and maintain the site Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Work closely with production team leaders to investigate non-conformances and complaints
  • Carry out root cause analysis where necessary
  • Implement improvement plans for quality whilst working with production team leaders
  • Supervision of the QA Technicians, Product Technologist and Technical Coordinator
  • Oversee supplier approval and supplier risk assessments
  • Review and interpretation of laboratory analysis
  • Deputise for the Head of Technical
  • Carry out training of technical procedures
  • Promote a pro-active food safety culture

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • You are an excellent communicator with strong meeting facilitation skills.
  • You take the initiative, solve problems effectively, and are happy to get stuck in and be hands on.
  • You are very well organised and pay attention to detail whilst managing a busy and varied agenda.
  • You have excellent IT skills and are proficient in Microsoft Office or similar.
  • A strong technical food background is essential
