My client are a leading warehousing and distribution with sites across the UK, serving predominantly the UK FMCG market. With their turnover sitting around the 60m mark, they are primed for growth and hope to achieve the magic 100m number in the next couple of years through organic growth and acquisitions.

As part of the busy transport operations team, your role will be to monitor and manage real-time location an status of the clients deliveries and collections.

Specific Responsibilities and Objectives:

  • Monitor the real-time location and status of all deliveries and collections.
  • Address delays or disruptions promptly by coordinating with drivers and relevant departments.
  • Ensure timely dispatch and arrival of vehicles in line with planned schedules.
  • Provide proactive and accurate delivery/collection status to customers real time.
  • Maintain regular communication with shift managers to align on vehicle availability, driver status, and operational challenges.
  • Update shift managers on any incidents, route changes, or customer issues that may impact daily targets.
  • Support shift handovers by clearly documenting and communicating outstanding issues or follow-ups.
  • Utilise transport management software (TMS), GPS tracking system
  • Report any accidents as soon as possible and in compliance with the accident reporting procedure.

Experience:

  • Experience in a distribution environment and familiarity with using fleet telematics and TM systems is essential.
  • Knowledge and understand of Operators Licence requirements.
  • Previous experience working in a similar role is desirable.

Other Criteria:

The successful candidate must have excellent communication and customer service skills; towards both colleagues and customers. They must be organised, have excellent attention to detail and a problem solving attitude. This role also requires the candidate to be fluent in English due to being in constant communication with planning teams, operations teams and customers.

  • 12 hour shift
  • 06:00 - 18:00

Ideally you will have at least 2 years experience in a similar role within the transport and logisitics sector, alternatively if you have experience within the transport sector in another role, training will be given.
